Pine Apple Bier de Garde

Back on tap at The Bashore BrewHaus is an old favorite. PineApple Express is a slightly tart pine apple bier de garde. The first batch of PineApple Express was bottled a little under a year ago and really started out as more of an accident than a planed success. The beer was formulated and the bulk of the beer was blended in our funky wine barrel. The rest of the beer....~2 gallons was infused with pineapple and allowed to referment for about 2 weeks. The resulting beer was sharply tart and citrusy.

I set out to recreate this success. Long story made short, I failed....PineApple Express #2 is a different beer. It is less tart and has more pineapple favor. Like the first batch it is surprisingly deceptive with the alcohol because it is very sessionable. Still a very good beer by all accounts, but if you drink it expecting PineApple Express batch#1 you will be disappointed. This version is much more of a summer ale with nice notes of citrus, pineapple and malt. I actually think both beers have there merits, but #1 was the best sour I ever created. The mission is not over.....I will try again, but in the meantime stop by and try the failure!! Maybe you'll like it!
