Now On Tap: 2/22/10

The Amazing Rando Manana and Cream Stout - 6.25% ABV

New on tap this week is the second beer in our Patron Inspiration Series. This beer is named for the creative master mind behind all of the fantastic artwork you see for every Bashore Brewing beer. The Amazing Rando is named for Mr. Randolph Clyde Flick II. I really believe that every creative label that Randy designs really adds to the appeal of every beer that we create and in most cases the artwork is probably better than the beer. Up until now all we could do is say, "thanks Randy, that looks awesome". This beer has given me the chance to create something that I believe Randy will really enjoy. You see Randy is your typical beer drinker with a few exceptions. The majority of the time we go to the bar Randy will ask Irene or I what he should order and then he will promptly get a Miller Lite or a Labatt, but Randy would be the first to tell you that he is a liquor drinker.....not really a beer drinker. The exception to this rule for Randy is Guinness. Randy enjoys a pint of Guinness as much as anyone I've ever met......in fact Randy enjoys most mellow stouts almost as much as he enjoys a White Russian.

Since I'm no good at making liquor I thought why not make him a mellow, yet flavorful stout and serve it on nitro tap in the BrewHaus. Thus was born The Amazing Rando Manana and Cream Stout. This is a beer I'm very proud of as it was my first effort at a Milk Stout and I think it turned out pretty good. The Amazing Rando is a creamy, sweet stout with several layers of flavor. The smell is that of coffee and bananas and the flavor follows suit with the added taste of chocolate and roasted grains. It is for all purposes a session stout that is meant to be drank much it the same way you would drink a Guinness.......all night long. I really hope for everybody who drinks this beer will take the time to appreciate the effort that went into making it and also the effort that goes into every label that Randy designs. From all of us, THANK YOU RANDY, THAT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!

MattStar Belgian Imperial Stout - 9% ABV

Oh Captain My Captain! Just in time for Valentines Day we are releasing the first beer in our Patron Inspiration Series of beers with MattStar, a Belgian Imperial Stout named for our good friend Matt Junak. On a personal note, ever brewer has his beginning and for me Matt was the person that got me started brewing beer. Matt had been brewing beer off and on with his brother for years. Brewing beer really started to interest me after I had discovered craft beer about 5 years ago and Matt said making beer was really easy. So with a little help from Irene (bought me my first home brew kit), Matt directed me down the path of crafting my first ale. That was about 4 years ago and it was an extract pale ale kit that we purchased from Michigan Brewing Company called TC's Pale Ale. Matt gave me several pointers and showed me how to force carbonate a keg......much easier than bottling. Over that first year we both brewed beers and shared them with each other. Some were successes, but most were not (Smokey Oakie, my overly boozy stout, my weird buttery tasting red ale). Regardless of how bad the beer was, Matt was always here to try a pint and tell me what he thought in his own way.

Since that first year we've gone in opposite directions with our brewing. Matt would probably say I brew too much and I would say....."damn Matt when you gonna make another brown ale to put on tap at the brewhaus?" Matt still brews from time to time, but other interests have filled his life (lasers & Gabby). However, once in a blue moon we get lucky enough over here to be able to put one of Matt's beers on tap. Regardless of how much we talk or see each other I always feel like Matt will be that to share a pint and shoot the shit with . Cheers to you Matty....AKA MattStar Junberg!

MattStar is a Belgian Imperial Stout with several very unique qualities. Its not as thick as some of the other stouts we make, but it has a great roasted flavor, with hints of dark and dried fruit. It also has a hoppy aspect to it that is uncommon in stout. Matt described it as being very similar to Founders Breakfast Stout, but still different. He said it definitely tastes like beer, which is a complement from Matt. MattStar went on tap today, so stop in and enjoy a pint with Matt, Irene and I.

ON TAP: 2/6/10

Just in time for the Super Bowl we'll be releasing our second beer of the year. Baptized by Fire which is a London Red Ale. This beer is malty and easy drinking. It pours a deep amber-brownish color and can be drank in high quantities because of its low alcohol and relative smoothness. Stop in anytime and enjoy a pint! Also, feel free to stop in and enjoy the big game this Sunday. We still have lots of beer on tap and all 5 taps will be pouring a wide variety of brew and one cider. Cheers!
