Bashore BrewHaus Oktoberfest

Bashore BrewHaus Oktoberfest

WHEN: Saturday, September 19th /noon - when the beer runs out (never)

WHERE: Bashore BrewHaus (inside and outside under a tent)

WHAT TO WEAR: All celebrations at Bashore BrewHaus are celebrations of beer and friends. In addition, this event coincides with the MSU vs. Notre Dame football game. Proper attire for this event would be warmish clothes that either celebrate beer, college teams (tailgating attire) or German attire (lederhosen ONLY!!).

WHAT TO EXPECT: We'll kick things off at noon outside under the tent with our first tapping of the day and we will subsequently be tapping a new beer every hour until 3:15pm when MSU kicks off against Notre Dame (see schedule below) . The day will be filled with music (polka and sing along music), drinking, dancing, games and football. We are hoping for nice weather so that the majority of this event can take place outside under the tent. However, the BrewHaus will be open for anyone wishing to be inside out of the elements. We are hoping to have food cooking all day long. Food will consist of traditional German fare along with tailgating type foods and snacks. As always everyone is encouraged to bring food to share with everyone whether they be snacks or hot dishes....every little bit helps. The tent will be lighted and candle will be on tables so that the party can spill into the night. Please email and/or call us with dish ideas for the day.

12 NOON Release

This is a decotion style Marzen/Oktoberfest beer. A highly drinkable German lager with more malt character and sweetness then its yellow, fizzy American cousin. At noon we will be filling a 3 liter glass and passing it around as a community drink. Careful with this one friends and you may never want to put your glass down. Delicious!!

1:15 pm Release

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a Trappist Monk were to brew a German wheat beer. Well here's your answer! This ale is a beautiful orange, copper color with all the crispness and drinkability of a German Hefeweizen, but it also has the sweetness and complexity of a Belgian Trappist ale. This is what monk's would drink if they were to hang out in a Bier Garten all day.....this beer is just a lot of fun!

2:15 Release

This beer is crispy and edgy with a bit of hoppy bitterness. Straight forward and easy drinking with tiny notes of fruit and earth. Essentially, when I was making this beer my thought was to make something that would stand apart from all of the malty complex beers in the line up today. Should be an easy drinker for anyone who isn't ready to jump into the deep end of the beer spectrum. You don't need arm floaties for this one!

3:15 Release

Well, I saved the craziest beer for the last release of the day. This beer is a monster that has taken on a life of its own since it was brewed. This ale started out as porter that was brewed as a small batch. It was brewed with pumpkin, cocoa, vanilla beans and spices. After its primary fermentation the color was too light and it seemed to taste a lot more like a brown ale then a porter. Drastic measures had to be taken! Fugly was blended with a left over gallon of Kremlin Joe's Russian Imperial Stout. This marriage led to a beer that is pitch black and boozy with flavors of carmel, chocolate, vanilla with an up front flavor of spice that lingers on your palate as you finish this beer. Think spiced Porter meets dessert meets you lying face down....that's Fugly One!

FOMB Rampaging Giant CANCELLED

The FOMB Rampaging Giant gathering on Sept. 5th has been cancelled due to lack of attendees. This event will not be rescheduled. However, future FOMB gatherings/beer tastings may take place this fall depending on the beer situation at the brewhaus. As always we have beer on tap and friends of the BrewHaus do not need a designated gathering or party to stop in and enjoy a few pints especially now that football season is upon us.

Hopefully, we will see all of you at our next party on Sept 19th for Oktoberfest starting at noon that day. We will have 4 new beers on tap for this event. Stay tuned for future posts with more details about Oktoberfest. Cheers and GO STATE!!
