Beer Olympics Update!!

We almost have a complete list of participants in the team events. This year teams will be assembled the morning of the event by random draw by 4 captains. This years captains are as follows

Cletus Joe's Bourbon Barrel Russian Imperial Stout

13.5% ABV

Just in time for the warmth of summer comes a treat that should really be enjoyed on a cold winter evening. Cletus Joe's BB RIS is our house Russian Imperial Stout Kremlin Joe's aged for 6 months in French oak chips that were soaked in Makers Mark Bourbon. The resulting beer has huge whiskey nose, but the flavor is very delicate and complex with tastes of wood, vanilla, chocolate, toffee, and roasted grains.

At the moment this is the highest alcohol beer we've ever produced at 13.5% ABV and for that reason we decided to bottle it in 12 oz. bottles....and more than one or two bottles and you'll be in for a rough night.

On a side not I split a bottle last night with a friend and this beer is really amazing. The nose is a bit misleading as it smells like its gonna be straight bourbon. However, the flavor is not that hot at all. The after taste still has a nice bourbon burn and you know its there, but its actually a highly drinkable barrel aged stout. A real treat that will hopefully age gracefully and provide a couple of years of solid enjoyment. Stop in and enjoy one sometime!
